These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Lightsmith Electric website and the electrical services we provide. Lightsmith Electric (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a local electrical contractor based in New York, serving residential and commercial customers across the Hudson Valley.
By using our website, contacting us, or hiring us for electrical work, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services. A written estimate, proposal, or contract signed for a specific job will take priority over these Terms if the two conflict.
Information only. The content on our website, including FAQs and descriptions of electrical issues, is for general information. It is not professional advice for your specific property. Electrical work is dangerous and should only be performed by a licensed electrician.
Accuracy. We try to keep our website accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that all information, service areas, or descriptions are complete or current. We may change website content at any time without notice.
Acceptable use. You agree not to:
Intellectual property. All content on this website, including text, logos, images, and design, belongs to Lightsmith Electric or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute it without our written permission.
Estimates. After an on-site assessment, we provide a clear, upfront price before any work begins. Estimates are based on the conditions visible at the time of the assessment and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
Hidden conditions. Older buildings may have hidden problems, such as knob-and-tube wiring, damaged wiring inside walls, or code violations that are only found once work starts. If we discover a condition that changes the scope or cost of the job, we will stop, explain the issue, and get your approval for a written change order before doing additional work. We will not add surprise charges without your consent.
Scheduling. We will work with you to set a time for your assessment or service visit and will keep you updated on our arrival. Weather, permit delays, material availability, or emergencies may occasionally affect the schedule.
Cancellations. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. For jobs where we have already ordered special materials or equipment, you may be responsible for those costs if you cancel.
Payment. Payment terms will be stated in your estimate or invoice. For larger projects, we may require a deposit before work begins and progress payments as work is completed. Unless otherwise agreed, final payment is due when the job is completed and the final walkthrough is done. Unpaid balances may be subject to late fees as allowed by New York law.
Permits and inspections. We follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes on every job. Where required, we will obtain permits and schedule inspections with the local authority. Permit and inspection fees will be included in your estimate or listed separately.
Your responsibilities. To help us complete the job safely and on time, you agree to:
Workmanship warranty. We stand behind our work. Any workmanship warranty period will be stated in your estimate or invoice. If a problem caused by our workmanship appears during that period, contact us and we will inspect and correct it at no extra labor cost.
Manufacturer warranties. Products such as EV chargers, generators, panels, and light fixtures are covered by their manufacturers’ warranties. We will pass these warranties on to you but are not responsible for manufacturer defects.
What the warranty does not cover. Our warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, power surges, lightning, flooding, alterations or repairs made by others, normal wear, or existing wiring and equipment we did not install or repair.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lightsmith Electric is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, such as lost profits or spoiled goods, arising from our website or services. Our total liability for any claim related to a job will not exceed the amount you paid for that job. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under New York law, including liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Website disclaimer. Our website is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors or viruses.
Indemnification. You agree to hold Lightsmith Electric harmless from claims arising from your misuse of our website, your violation of these Terms, or false information you provide to us.
Testimonials on our website reflect the real experiences of individual customers. Results vary depending on the property and the work required, so testimonials are not a guarantee of the same outcome for every job. If you send us feedback or a review, you allow us to display it on our website and marketing materials using your first name only.
Our website may link to or use third-party services, such as Google Maps, review platforms, or social media. We do not control these services and are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability.
Your use of our website is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. Any legal action will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ulster County, New York.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Work already agreed to in a signed estimate or contract will follow the terms in place when it was signed.
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will stay in full effect.
